Well. It's long been established that her mother had a distinct urge to exploit her daughter's attractions from a ridiculously early age. I agree that the image is about as close as you can come to kiddie porn without being wholly kiddie porn, but she's 44... and it's supposed to be art... fucking kitschy as hell... in a modern art museum... damn close to as stupid as a Warhol... I spoze pervs could take pictures of it there and pass them around, but, fer crapsakes.
I'm sure Brooke Shields has made her peace with all that long since, and her mother is now too dotty to be arrested for it... maybe always was.
I'm appalled that the Tate even wanted to put it up, and glad it's not going up, but this is, at most, an act of thought crime prevention... isn't it? And why are we having this burst of sensitivity over thirty-year-old travesties all of a sudden?
