the einsteins of the new world

In 1852 some guy found a huge tree. He told his friends. They told theirs. They cut it down. Problem was they had forgotten it was way too big to get out of there, and far too big for any milling equipment they had then anyway. Oops.

So they made a dance floor out of the stump, and the rest of the tree is still there, horizontal, to this day.

Fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here really reminds me of this tree.

I wonder if 150 years from now someone will dream up some good things to try to make of it.

There aren't any.
