framed on my desk
There's just no way to deal with it unless you have a lot of heroes around you, and this picture also helps remind me that LBJ did a lot of good things while he was killing insane numbers of people.
Update: Larisa has a piece about E. Howard Skunk's latest pack of lies here. Creeps me out to contemplate that anybody might swallow a Nixon henchman accusing LBJ of anything. I know everybody says he wouldn't run again because he was so demoralized and unpopular from escalating the war to such catastrophic effect, but I have always thought it was much more likely to have been about finding out exactly who did assassinate Kennedy, and why, and losing all heart for the office and the filth that plagues it. Certainly adding these two possibilities together completely accounts for it.
I wish Martin had been the president in this picture.
