dnc annual winter meeting
Been watching the speeches via the C-SPAN video archive, and it's very clear that Clinton, Obama and Edwards are the the popular favorites. It is 100% that Hillary does not want to end the occupation of Iraq. It is about 98% that Obama has only the majesty of personality to offer. It is a crying shame that Edwards has shown himself to be so venal and disrespectful of human life, because he has a real solidarity with the working stiff and an honest desire to raise the prospects for the struggling and the poor. It's really his obvious conviction that Americans are more worthy humans than the rest, and his indecent posture of decency that keeps him from being a sound choice for our highest office.
Dennis Kucinich doesn't want to be president. He just wants to hear himself speak. He says a lot of great stuff, but, truly, pfeh, Dennis. If you genuinely meant these things for your country, you would cut the warbling and schmaltz. You would cut to the chase.
Maybe between all the candidates I saw tonight -- not all yet, but the main ones -- I could cut and paste together a really fine president. But I'm here to tell you, the president we absolutely cannot do without has not entered the race. I'm hoping with all my heart that one will show up in time.
