who'da thunk

...there could ever be any basis for missing John Ashcroft as Attorney General? James Comey certainly gave us that basis today, with his testimony about having to rush with sirens blaring to Ashcroft's bedside in Intensive Care to prevent Gonzales and Card from getting the doped-up AG to sign off on the illegal wiretapping. We now know that there was a great deal of dissent in the ranks over AGAG "playing cute with the law" (quoth Lindsey Graham, believe it or not). I can't quite feature why/how El Torturador can bring himself to repeatedly pee on the Constitution, let alone exhibit such avidity for this practice... actively seeking out ways to wet it again... stubbornly resisting stepping down despite the open calls for his resignation by influential members of his own party. It's macbre. I don't see how there can be a single person left in America who thinks this administration has ever acted in good faith at all.
