constitution screwing

As I have mentioned before, I seem to have lost all patience with people who say "screw the Constitution" or act as one with that attitude. My reaction is violent and immediate. Three who come immediately to mind are Rahm Emanuel, Mike Gravel and Ralph Nader... all three supposedly on my side of the political divide. If we want to make it an even better document, I think adding to it The Declaration of Independence in some wise would be the only excellent move. It is not just the felons at the helm who are dissing the basis for a truly great society. It has been known since inception that good will and competence are mandatory to keeping the guarantees that formed our nation. Good will is the main thing missing on the right, and competence is the main thing missing on the left. Both are at work on both sides, but that good will and competence need to be restored desperately and immediately does not mean the Constitution itself should continue to be treated so roughly. We are all screaming about the recent offenses to it by the Supreme Court and the Administration and the Congress. We are so desperate to get liberals who will restore the equity and justice and peace and security that we are not looking closely enough at their actions. Declaring impeachment off the table is unconstitutional. Presenting a bill to cut off funds to the OVP is unconstitutional. Passing a bill that denies habeas corpus is unconstitutional. Passing bills that impinge on the guarantees of that document are unconstitutional... ALL of them. We have a veritable mountain of constitutional crises. The remedies will not be adding more unconstitutionality to the mountain. They will be stripping away the layers of that mountain.

Clear your heads! Drop everything! Good will! Competence! And, dammit:
C O U R A G E !
