it's like the tide coming in

* fires eight USAs with great performance records; well it's his prerogative and their performance sucked; proof their performance didn't suck; Clinton did it too; no Clinton did not do it; well we simply misspoke, it's *'s prerogative; no it isn't, not if he fired them for not prosecuting in accordance with political imperatives; dunno, wasn't involved; yes, you were involved; well not that I can remember; you tried to browbeat Ashcroft into approving illegal activities; no, no, I went to visit him on a different matter; oh, well then it isn't perjury, just smartass testimony; oops, FBI document production shows it wasn't a different matter ... All the while, the void of good faith leaving all the time in the world for ever more perfidious maneuvering....

Will it be Republican or Democratic perfidy that provides the next ebb in the advancement of justice?

It should be like a tsunami: tide hauls waaaaaaay out while information is gathered and then justice rolls in and wipes all the criminality from shore. The way it is, they can sit there and giggle about the tide coming in, play chicken with the water before it cuts them off from their retreat. Of course, this metaphor breaks down completely when the majority in Congress, and the ignoring masses, render the rule of law so much more like a mud puddle than an ocean.
