ahmadinejad speaks at columbia university

Just got done listening to it on C-SPAN's video archives. The translation broke down in a couple spots, which has me worried about censorship, but I heard most of it. Take it to the bank, President Ahmadinejad was by far the most lucid person in evidence on that video. The president of Columbia University pelted him with insults most foul before even giving way for him to speak. The university INVITED him to speak and proceeded to shit all over the podium from which he was about to speak right in front of my withering eyeballs. It was shocking. Ahmadinejad handled it with dignity and proceeded to sound more like a sensible, responsible and decent human than most of what we call politicians, and certainly that university president. I can't think of a movie director who could do justice to the filthily farcical atmosphere in which he had to extend the hand of reason, but he damn well managed it... for all the good it will do.... Here! Just watch!

Bollinger [seventeen minutes]:

Tell me you are not humiliated right down to your marrow by that reception/introduction.

Ahmadinejad [one hour]:

Tell me why we are trying to go to war with Iran. Somebody give me a lucid explanation!

60 Minutes 2006 [eighty minutes]

This is the one that 60 Minutes hacked beyond recognition for air, and C-SPAN aired in full the next night. The last twenty minutes is callers to C-SPAN talking mostly about Wallace's disrespectful demeanor. Personally, I found it very heartening that most of the callers realized there is a cultural divide to be bridged to reach understanding, and wanted the chance for understanding. Of course, that was over a year ago, and there were no university presidents trying to lick fascist jackboots at his -- the whole world's -- expense....

With Charlie Rose for the hour, 25 September 2008

I'd like to smack Rose until he's too dizzy to get out of bed.

Do you recognize how these American "journalists" speak to him as though he's a perp under the lamp at the police station? No respect. And if you like this lack of respect, why the fuck won't they speak this way to, say, * or Fudd? And then compare the difference in level of communication that would proceed from that.

THINK! The whole world depends on it.
