Beside the fact that their lips are moving, there are actually other means to check their veracity at our disposal.

L. Paul Bremmer tells * he wishes to dissolve the Iraqi military.

* gives Bremmer the thumbs up and adds that ORHA (Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance) workers should be made comfortable immediately.

So, while it might not have been the plan to disband the Iraqi army -- because clearly there were no plans beyond invading and staying for as close to forever as possible -- * knew of Bremmer's big idea and solidly approved it in advance.

[In addition, you may want to give a quick glance at the GAO testimony before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations regarding the benchmarks unmet by the Iraqi Government. Or the full report (92 pages). I know the term "Iraqi Government" is a farce, but you might want to give a look just so as to keep a bead on the general state of the moving lips gig.]
