And, it is up to all of us to do something about it.

Well, and, as you know, I'm vaguely hopeful about all of this tension over who has claim to what up there because it could turn into another really serious cold [no pun intended] war, which would immediately decrease the avidity for our hot wars in the Middle East, and give some mental space back to solving the climate crisis. Think about it.

Maybe I'm just desperate for any means of halting the slaughter and saving the world, but I'm cheering for Putin to become radically jerkish over this. All branches of the kleptocracy would be able to suck cosmic profits out of a doomsday scenario on the North Pole, and they're already expert, from decades of practice, at not actually killing each other while so doing.

Terrorists could go back to being unmolested miserable shlubs. The Constitution could be restored. The people could once again put their attention on fixing problems... instead of all these psychotic attempts to distract attention from the fact that we are actually quaking in our corners with our pillows yanked down hard over our heads.

Yes, I think Vladamir Putin could actually save the world.
