talking down psychopaths

Harry Kreisler interviews John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt on The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy [one hour].

Very cogent breakdown of who and what is the Israel Lobby, and bone-freezingly placating of Armageddon-mongering maniacs, venal and pusillanimous traitors posing as public officials, and just about drove me all the way through the roof to hear.... But on the off chance that it has been merely pride keeping these fiends at it, they offer face-saving solutions to the grave threat posed by the confluence of every bad instinct that is life on this planet right this very now. Look, look, special interest groups are an American tradition. Of course we couldn't prevent or stop Israel from bombing the living snot out of Lebanon in 2006. Sure it would have been nice to save all those lives, but our campaign financiers wouldn't have it. Of course you can use our entire treasury and all our military capabilities for anything you want, but shouldn't we be allowed to have an open discussion about it? I know these two desperately want us to stop being such assholes on the world stage, but, ahem, who do they think they're fooling?
