[click picture]Josh Marshall is really starting to piss me off. At the best of times I must apply extra attention to the perfection of equanimity when reading his blog, but this really tears it. Always reminding myself people just don't have enough time to keep up with this stuff, get the facts and sit down and really THINK, but this is getting ridiculous. It's plain as day that he simply wishes to come off as objective and not a fringe type who flips out about ugly truths, but... why doesn't it occur to him that he's looking after his wishes to the exclusion of reality? I can state with conviction that Josh Marshall is not stupid, and so watching him post evidence of transcendental stupidity is so vexing it defies adequate description! He is not alone in this particular form of jerkwatertude, but somehow it irks me more when he does it.
Larry Johnson, who sometimes posts on TPM, regularly sends me through the roof while reading his blog too. Sometimes he says such sensible and clear things you really get the idea you might be dealing with a sane person, ex of spooksville, and that's such a comforting thought... but then you catch him doing impossible contortions to cheerlead for Hillary Clinton or suddenly go dumb as a post on vital stuff. So you begin to despair of the throngs of intelligence agents we have out there in the world. If guys who think on Johnson's level are out there on missions to save us from, say, terrorist nukes, we're... well... uhm... weeeeeeeeell... we're as good as nuked. Sorry.
Humans, American humans especially, just really have to learn how to quit letting what they want interfere with their ability to discern and deal with REALITY.
The planet is dead if we don't.
