hunger is on the rise

Moyers has on this clergyman, ex of the World Bank, who brims with the good news that so many are starving again partially because so many who were starving are not starving any more.... Bringing India all those jobs has really raised the standard of living for formerly hopeless populations, don't you know. This, he feels, is driving up the price of food. Don't take my word for it. Check it out on the link.

I'm sitting here thinking to myself that clergy are the perfect employees for the World Bank, but that is me being uncharitable about the "virtues" of convenient dogma.

Anyway. Capitalism can keep working for the few if they keep most of the world population starving and slowly migrate the jobs in a rotation designed to employ the hungriest relieve the hunger of the hungriest.

If we just sit here and let it.

Pat Buchanan is pissing everybody off with this supremely partisanly-crafted gripe about how good America has been to blacks. I think I grok his basic point, but, shit, he really made a miserable hash of it... just to keep me from ever being able to look up to him openly for his many virtues. Shit.
