the ap is working through their hissy about blogs

Guess it's lucky I only extremely rarely quote from any of these guys. I try always to link to the naked of advertising straight stories, both because I hate that capitalistic irk and because most commercial outlets edit the original pieces. Sifting through all the propagandizing and biases is hard enough without missing the bits taken out to suit the ideological or column inch needs of publishers.

The downside is that most of the newswire pieces don't stay on the free internet that long and a post linking them will turn out to have a dead link sooner rather than later. Some people go nuts and try to mirror the articles they use, or save them to disk, so they can fix the dead link problem, but, well, you are aware that the stuff ends up on Lexus/Nexus for anyone who will pay body parts for that service, right? If you want always to be able to back up your stuff with linkable evidence, or need to do some real investigating, you need access to that service.

So. I really am going to go back through my thousands of posts and delete things with dead links and stuff that's just blather I'm not interested in anymore. So if there's anything back there you covet, be sure to let me know not to delete it.
