our gossip fence is just being refurbished, hang tough

JS Kit eases our minds about HaloScan functionality:

Hi,

Editing and Smileys:

We are in the process of replicating 70+ million comments that are on, somewhat dated, HaloScan servers to our new [and shiny!] servers. This is being done to ensure major up-time improvements and so that we can provide new functionality to the Comment script [visitor profiles, you tube video support, and so on].

Given that the system is live we needed to turn off editing during replication to ensure consistency in the comment data.
As soon as the replication is done we will switch the underlying script to JS-Kit Comments styled like the existing HaloScan Comments.

This means that you will get 1) Editing back, 2) all of the major features of HaloScan, and 3) all of our new features!
Plus since it is code we know well we will be able to provide killer support and add new feature request quickly :)

This might be considered an actual improvement to our lives if true, and is remarkable on that account alone, but I very seriously appreciate our concerns being addressed affirmatively so promptly upon expressing them. So rare these days. So rare.
