democratic perfidy

Beside the New Yorker piece that froze my teeth -- and here's and older piece by the same author for those of you gluttons for punishment -- we now have New York Magazine casting doubt on Obama's credentials:
The reigning cliché of this election year—that we are in uncharted waters here, without either map or compass—has never been more apt than when it comes to the question of race. In October, Obama’s former pastor, Wright, will publish a new book and hit the road to promote it, an occasion that might well place the topic of Obama’s blackness (along with his patriotism and his candor about what he heard in the pews in all those years at Trinity Church) squarely at the center of the national debate. How Obama handles that moment may determine whether he becomes the next occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

For many Democrats, Obama’s eventual residence there has long seemed a foregone conclusion. But cast your mind forward twenty years and imagine looking back on this election. Would it really seem strange from that vantage point if the first black major-party nominee—a guy with a thin résumé, no foreign-policy credentials in an era scarred by terrorism, a background alien to much of Wonder Bread America, and the full name Barack Hussein Obama—lost? No, it would seem inevitable.

and I have to say they are quite more effective on me than Billary's bellowing about it. Some things are far better handled by constituents, er, surrogates, but I'm wondering if this particular bit of terrorism derived solely from Rev Jeremiah Wright's speech to the NAACP or if there's some real indication that he's actually going to be on a book tour in October.

Billary sank Howard Dean in 2004 for their political ambitions, and there's every reason to believe they will sink Obama to get another crack in 2012... if indeed they will lay down at this convention... which isn't clear to me yet. I think I should point out that the very best case scenario for a Hillary presidency is that we will feel a little more optimistic about ourselves in WWIII than we would with McCain in WWIII.

I am very glum about our prospects.

[Update:

Fucknuts thinks Georgia oughta join NATO...

and Shriveled Fucknuts, with Hillary, nominated Saakashvili for a Nobel Prize....

Like I say, I am very glum about our prospects.]
