Correa wouldn't renew the lease for our military base in Ecuador. He said as soon as we let him build a base in Florida, he will let us have a base in Ecuador. Now that we're trying to put a "missile defense shield" missile base in Russia's back yard, Putin's getting illustrative. I like this stuff extra-extravagantly much because its so blunt even the most hypnotized American Exceptionalismists can't miss it. Bravo.

In another development Monday, Putin ordered Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin to supervise the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service in drafting anti-cartel legislation by mid-September.
