... if you can call witlessness witting, which we are forced to do regularly these days. I don't know about you but I'm tired of dipswitches like this trying to bridge the gaps made by completely irrational and/or outright criminal departures from sense and/or reality. Sometimes the efforts to do so are even very clearly made by intelligent people. The problem is the misuse of intelligence. When you gauge what you say more by how it will reflect on you personally, or on your side of an argument, you are putting yourself in the service of that, not reality, not the resolution of difficulties. It is even frequently done that someone will tell the truth in service of a lie, or in such a manner as to lead away from reality and toward another more desirable-for-them-goal. Almost everyone does this. All the time. And I'm sick to death of it! It outrages the living snot out of me!
