I think it's too ludicrous that the lawyer was poisoned to intimidate her... but why does Politkovskaya's family need a lawyer? I know they're trying to pin this on Putin, and for all I know there may be real cause, despite her feeling of enmity toward him that preceded her death. I have grave doubts about this stuff because I can see a clear pattern of liberal Russians being duped by Western plutocrats into stumping for their fascistic form of democracy. We are using the dire resentments left over from Soviet times, and from the chaos into which Russia was thrust in the 1990s, and so it is very hard to see through all the smoke. I do know that we can look at our treatment of Chavez in Venezuela and Morales in Bolivia and make a damn good case for Putin's innocence... and for our covert ops being involved in this stuff....
