a wisp more insight into putin

As you know, or don't know, I threw out all the crap our fascist press has pumped me with in the last decade as it pertains to Russia, and Putin in particular. It keeps trying to crawl back in, but I mostly keep it out. Things I learned from good sources, I double-checked. I try to do this with just about everything, but I'm extra-vigilant about the conditioning to think the worst of world leaders who very well may not be as awful as we portray them by a tenth. People keep screaming at me about the sudden and mysterious premature deaths of several Russian journalists. I keep responding that [1] we do not know it was Putin; [2] it could as well be plutocrats from anywhere wishing to make him out to be a monster; and [3] if we've been paying attention in Venezuela and Bolivia of late, we know that it is the wealthy fascists who make the most noise about "democracy" from the newspapers and television stations they own, and so if he did kill these people it's every bit as easily in defense of the people of Russia as for some sick desire to be the dictator. One thing I very seriously do know from personal experience is that some extremely determined plutocrats dropped everything to exploit Russia when the Soviet Union collapsed, and, sorry, murdering a few journalists to get a lid on that action could DEFINITELY save the Russian people immeasurable suffering. I don't like it, but I have to keep my knee from bashing my chin so hard behind it that my teeth fall out.

So, bearing in mind that I think Remnick's slant on this story is from a propaganda-contaminated point of view, still there are things to be learned from this piece.

[AND THIS STRENGTHENS MY CASE THAT HE IS MOTIVATED BY ANTI-FASCISM....]
