i should just never go there ever no matter what

It makes me feel homicidal. Between all the tabloid crap and the glorification of right wing crazies and the virtual AP-tude and the distinct lack of solidarity for the cause of peace on earth, I should, flippin', just never go there at all. I don't know what gets into me that I sometimes check groupthink outlets to see what the sheeple are grazing on. I should be in a damn cave somewhere, becoming perfect enough to write sutras... or something.

I hate Rahm Emanuel, okay? I hate him:
"One of the reasons the president was willing to let this information out [was that] the information was out," he said. "So if they're saying you basically have exposed something, it's been written. Go get the New York Review of Books. It is there. So the notion that somehow we're exposing something -- it's already been out. In fact, President Bush...allowed a lot of this information out. So the notion that somehow this all of a sudden is a game changer doesn't take cognizance of the fact it's in the system and in the public domain. Therefore, it's not new... Number two: it's one of the key tools al Qaeda has used for recruitment. There has been a net cost to America by changing the way America is seen in the world, which means banning this technique and practice, we have actually stopped them and prevented them from using it as a rallying cry."
Earlier he had been going on about restoring our image by banning all these "harsh interrogation methods" and I'm reading this stuff and screaming, screaming, that no image will be restored while there are those freeway-sized loopholes, while the scene at Bagram is not fully compliant with American and international law, and most emphatically not while no one will be prosecuted for torturing people. Who on earth or on Pluto does this fuck think he's fooling?

Then, as though that were not enough, I take a peek at General Clueless About the Fourth Amendment, his own self, bitching about torturers needing permission to torture from the ACLU, and I'm cooked for the day.

They, both sides of this fascist coin, are redefining America on television. They're breaking laws all over the place, and not being called on it. The Constitution is a wet and moldy pulp wad in the sewer, and bubkes is being done about it by anyone.

This is definitely all headed toward naked and starving hordes outside the gates of heavily defended castles and opulent estates and not even the perpetrators seem able to grasp that. Beyond astonishing. Breathtaking. Unspeakably stupid. Abounding my worst nightmares.

And everyone, the whole world, but especially here, seems to have forgotten that we have no business being in any of these places to begin with, let alone detaining anyone there at all. That's just too prosaic to even mention now, I guess.

Watch Rahmbo stutter and splut, if you can bear it....

John Amato even piped up against this crap.

Hooray. I think I'm going to move this up, to celebrate Crooks and Liars so unequivocally coming out in favor of decency and sense and unhypnotized awareness of actuality.

  3. Emanuel says they were "only following orders". Like the Nazi's.
