There's a metaphor here, but it works to scold us and to uphold us. The agonies of our fellow man are not fiction and don't have a section, but would that we could take as good care of them as our books.
[While possible shelter floats or sinks all over the place....]

ReplyDeleteI've also seen a number of reports of people torching their cars for similar reasons.
Years ago we were doing a job in Oakley. Every weekday for several months I would drive over the Antioch bridge - an insane structure - 2 narrow lanes rising several hundred feet in the air at an extreme angle.
Stuck on a sand bar just upstream was a beautiful double masted sailboat. A 30 footer at least. During my trips over the bridge every day I watch as the tides and weather slow took its toll. It was sad to see the boat die such a death - I wanted to sail away on her, if I could only figure out how to get her off the bar.
