[click image]This time it's Tom Philpott at Grist. This is the third time I've bumped into a post from him that has accorded me great relief from exasperation and frustration and the useless nerve movies they run in my head. That is as attractive as Craig Murray's manliness. Even though I well know the pitfalls of masculine clarity, I also cannot help but fall for it when I'm in such a state. Either I will get over it shortly or it will get worse.
Meanwhile, here is another piece that goes over much the same ground as I have here and as Tom has at Grist, and even more. I think we are really getting close to settling the fog of facts and hope that this thing isn't very deadly if we just can't stop it from spreading everywhere. I'm pretty sure a great deal was known about it in both the Perote Valley and the boardrooms of Smithfield and Carroll long before it hit the massive outbreak stage. I don't know if it would have made the health organizations perform better if they'd done the right thing from the start, not sat on it, not tried to convince the locals they were wrong about the source and what it was making them sick, but it sure would have been nice to have a chance.
P.S. I remember quaking in my boots for about a week to find out if the boil on my surgical scar was MRSA or just unmelted sutures. It turned out to be the latter and so I'm still with you, but that wasn't a fun week. All the while, Tom Philpott was out there swinging.

Please have a look at my Swine Government post.

in fairness (even though I ain't a journalist.) It seems it was a typo. "Destruction" should be "Destination."
ReplyDeleteThank you for not crashing my ears and brains with the YouTube link this time, Phil. Muchas gracias, as they say, but, you know, I wish you'd sign your anonymous posts, hassle though it may be, so others would know it is you. I only "know" it is you be your failure to leave any evidence on stats pages. You do realize that means anyone who makes their living on their blog doesn't get paid for your visits, don't you?
