Lest you still be inclined to go off the WHO and CDC stats, our friends in the biosurveillance biz have some news for you:
We are currently following 50 countries reporting suspect cases (up from 33 several days ago), and 16 countries with confirmed cases. Occasionally, we are seeing variation in what a country itself reports in terms of whether it has confirmed cases versus WHO's latest roll up. This is to be expected in a rapidly evolving situation, where a given country's report may simply be wrong or there is a time-delay in getting information through official channels.
Can you tell I'm getting irked with the people making light of this outbreak of "swine-origin influenza virus"? 50 countries have it, not 16. Just 16 have gone through all the intricacies of getting SOME of their sick or dead people listed.
I'm going out for a smoke. My fingers have fallen asleep from my exasperation with these "public health organizations" and the Einsteins who run them.
