If in your travels you meet the Buddha, throw him through your tv set.
—Davis Fleetwood
Dear Neufneuf,
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I'm white, and I learned more from Malcolm than practically anyone, except Mumia, and possibly Feynman - also a true radical.
Much love,
joely
I wanted to pay my tribute too, but wordpress has been dysfunctional for the past two days :(
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to miss someone you've never even met? Or someone who died long before you were even born?
That's how I felt whenever I would watch him speak. Like I missed this long, lost relative who was gone too soon.
I am Portuguese, Dutch, Cherokee and Creek... extremely pale skin with freckles. I was ten when JFK was murdered. I lived through all of them.
ReplyDeleteJack, Martin, Bobby, Malcolm, John... it IS like losing a close relative, only somehow even more, and at least we have some kind of record of them left so people can get a clue of what we lost, how the revolution of consciousness spreading across the planet was shot to bits by murdered heroes and lots of cash.
Joely, I love that you bring up Feynman with Malcolm. That rocks.
THIS is a man everyone should learn about! They kept this hidden from me at school. I recently saw several films about him on Free Speech TV. This guy is a MUST to learn about! Even, if not MORE , than MLK.
ReplyDeleteIn some ways more, for sure, but in others, not so much. They both had the truth on their side. Malcolm was there for those who just couldn't get their heads out of their asses, and so HE is the teaching we should be heeding right now.
ReplyDeleteAnd he was so purposely misconstrued by the media and govt.
ReplyDeleteMedgar Evers always seems to be left out when talking about civil rights leaders who were killed, one of the first in this country!
