NOAA wildlife biologist Joe Cordaro says it's rare for blue whales, the world's largest mammals, to wash ashore. However, last week another blue whale washed up in Monterey County, also having been hit by a ship. Why couldn't they have just shot me instead.

"Why couldn't they have just shot me instead."
ReplyDeleteLet's not allow them time to organize to do that now.
It's sad the whale. What can you say, how is a ship going to know it's there? I love Monterey and Carmel, but seriously how someone driving a freaking giant ass ship supposed to know? I mean they don't do it on purpose right!?
It's fucked up. So are the deaths of animals when we build a dam or try to filter out those fucking Asian snails in the delta.
So is the deaths of animals with arson fires in our national forests.
Yes, and they WOULD have to organize to shoot me!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we should have ships if they're going to do this sort of thing. They also nail fishing boats around here too often. They have sonar and radar and all kinds of navigational shit that tells anyone who's looking that there's a blue whale or a fishing boat in or near their path. They could make sure to have precautions against that stuff, but they just DON'T... might cost money....
I guess hydrographic in the article implies the same thing, but this morning in the paper they said it was a research vessel, however they didn't elaborate.
