... tying this in with a ton of other stuff that points to the gradual increase in pressure for us to back off our aggression by use of economic leverage, and gentle maneuvers that let us save face but proceed anyway, but a bunch of it was going to cause a friend to flip out, maybe make his eyeballs bleed, so I'm just going to link you to this excellent piece by Flynt Leverett before it gets another day older waiting for me to muster the super-bloggertude and the moxie to endure the wrath of someone really touchy about part of the subject.

I'll just try to save the other links in case it gets more urgent for me to man-up for it.
