Rocklin California is named for the granite quarries and outcroppings all over town. T the main exit from east bound Interstate 80 at Rocklin Road one day these wire and rod constructs began appearing. Gradually more and more showed up. Then they began to be wrapped with chicken wire and finally coated with a layer of gunite. (Sprayed on concrete).

There, as a monument to Rocklin's history, is a big pile of fake boulders that don't even match the color of the natural granite outcroppings only a few feet away!
