  8. Not a new decade...

Decades start with a year ending in 1. 2010 is the last year of this decade which started in 2001 with the start of this century.

This calender started in the year 1 A.D. - there was no year zero. The first decade A.D. ran from years 1 through 10. Year 11 started the next decade, etc., etc.

  9. So I'm sitting there, minding my own business, watching One Eyed Monster, holding a freshly poured, overly large, glass of champagne when Libby's dog comes up, sticks his head below my hand holding the glass and gives it a sudden upward thrust.

Wearing the freshly poured, overly large, glass of champagne, I was forced to leave the movie briefly to run my clothes through the drier.

    Sheesh, some peoples children!

  10. Yes One Eyed Monster - one of those grade B-- movies that you just have to keep watching because it is so bad you are just awe struck at points and rolling on the floor laughing most of the time.

Plot line: Group of porn stars and porn movie directors on a movie shoot at cabins in the deep woods are attacked by an alien from space.

    The alien? A disembodied penis!

Libby, a sci-fi movie nut, had recorded it from satellite not expecting what she got, but we all were laughing so hard we had tears rolling down - couldn't stop watching, kept you in suspense wondering if it could get any worse.

The only thing close to porn in the movie was one girl topless briefly.

  11. TVs are known as one-eyed monsters and so are dicks! So, well, I'm just sayin' it ain't like they did warn you. When I was young, my mother and my sister and I watched horror movies so bad they made you laugh. It was fun!

  12. I think it's centuries that end in '01 and decades end in '09....

  13. Decades end in 'X9...

Even though trends of decades last longer than decades sometimes or start later. Like the sixties. They went from 1963 to 1973 or so....

  14. Or, if yer me, they still haven't ended....

  15. Centuries BEGIN in '01 and decades END in 'X9... I need coffee.

  16. My friends and I would sit up Friday nights until 3 or 4 Saturday morning watching the old Sci-fi movies.

My favorite was When the Earth Stood Still, and my second favorite I can't remember the name of - the one where an astronaut is stranded on Mars with his monkey.

Also all the Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney movies.

  19. Oh ya - I forgot Bela.

I used to love Sherlock Holmes too - the Basil Rathbone version. (Still do actually)
