Some of the space lizard investigators think the LHC is a new-fangled version of the Nazi Bell... which is a piece of the alternate physics puzzle that is making them lean back toward Einstein. As I say, this bit makes me happy, because I have felt for a long time that there was something deeply wrong about the way they veered off from Einstein to begin with. Notwithstanding all the things they say they can do with quantum mechanics, it's very clearly mostly just guys hotdogging with abstrusity itself—getting nowhere intricately—at great length—busywork for smart people.
