  1. I'm off to a good start today...

Rinsed out the coffee pot and filled coffee maker with water, dumped the strainer and rinsed it, put new coffee into the coffee maker, oh crap - strainer sitting next to coffee maker, coffee in coffee maker!

Dump coffee maker and clean. Refill water, put coffee in strainer, put strainer in pot and turn on coffee maker.

Go take my bath then return for a cup of coffee.
Coffee all over counter and floor - empty pot sitting next to coffee maker!

    Sheesh!

At least I made it to work with no further incidents...

  3. Of course, those are maybe ALL our volcanoes....

Another recurring dream I had as a child was lava coming down the hillside out my bedroom window.

  5. Of course, those are maybe ALL our volcanoes....

They seem to have forgot about our two biggest volcanoes - the Yellowstone Caldera and Long Valley Caldera

While Yellowstone may be more of a threat, there is constant low level seismic activity in the Mammoth Lakes area as well. Several years ago it increased and there were other signs of an immanent eruption but it has quieted down again.

I've been to Yellowstone and seen the remains of the big quake in 1959 where the whole side of a mountain range cut loose and roared down through a river canyon and halfway up the mountain on the opposite side.

The dam at the lake upstream of the landslide tilted and if my memory serves me right the north end is now 16 feet higher than the south end.
