I first heard of this about ten years ago when the Director of Stewardship for some timber barons was going on about "carbon credits" maybe being a way they could make money off their timber by leaving it standing. A seriously GREAT thing, to be sure, but dicy-sounding as all get out. She insisted it was lucid and doable, and so I provisionally let that hang as a "maybe" all these years, but, well, we're all grownups here, right?

I saw that movie in grade school. A whole series of such things. My favorite was "Our Mr. Sun"
