this IS the perils of pauline!

OMG... after finally becoming comfortable enough for the moment with my new floating gizzy, I started familiarizing myself with the site somewhat better. Better late than never I guess, but... OMG... it's an ISRAELI company. So pft. Floating gizzy be gone. I am endeavoring to put it together to get something even better, but gotta ask some experts some questions first, so it might be a while. If it's going to be very long at all, I'll put back in the old shit until I can get it handled.

Jesus.

.

OKAY.

Pending the finding or making of something more appealing to me, and to us all, I have put back the old search box and put in a goofy new subscribe icon. After much fiddling I have managed to get an itty ugly little orange icon for the footer of each post that will let you go to any one of hundreds of places you might wish. [different toolbar instead]

Maybe I can figger how to make myself a really elegant little toolbox for the sidebar that will let you do all sortsa things and get rid of all these blots on my blog at that time. In the meantime, at least I'm not helping people like an Israeli product. Sheesh. What a drag.

Oh, oh, and you'll love THIS: In the midst of fiddling with this floaty gizzy thing yesterday, I somehow managed to yank all my posts from my page. So I had to go to my backup template, and when I did THAT, it put the Google Analytics back on. IT IS NOW GONE AGAIN, and for good. I don't know what it was registering to, if anything, because I closed the account.

Anyway. I think I'll put a drap of brandy in my cold coffee now.

  1. Maybe I am missing what your trying to do to your website, if you simply need to offer an RSS feed on a *.blogspot.com site, all you need do is add /rss.xml or /atom.xml

    for example:

    neufneuf.blogspot.com/rss.xml
    neufneuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml

    Need the rss icon?
    google.com/images/feed-icon.gif

I keep hearing the word search bar, but haven't ever seen a search bar on your website--is the terminology correct? "Search Bar"

If your trying to make a search field I might be able to help.

    This is the basic command.

    /search?q=test

    http://neufneuf.blogspot.com/search?q=test

So I simply juggle the shit around and arrive at this..

Well crap, I Can't post the fuckin code.

    Here: http://sacxtra.com/99
(LOOK at the source code of sea.htm)

    Try the Search engine:

2. No, no, dear, I did all that. There is a transparent little toolbar app at the bottom of your screen, unless one of your defenses is preventing you seeing it. There are already a bunch of little clickable icons down there that take you to my feed, or let you search things from a number of engines, or translate the posts into Swahili, take you to social media sites and sharing options.

I didn't have the sharing and TwitFace links for people before, but found it would be saving some of them lots of hassle if I put them on. I wanted the least obtrusive and least page load time consuming way and, so far, this is what I came up with. You should be able to see some little icons at the bottom of your screen, wherever you are on my page, and the vague outline of a toolbar.

Thanks for trying to help, but it's handled.

  3. That search bar code you did for me works really well. I copied it and saved it in case I want to move it back into my sidebar. THANKS. The old generic code one I used forever suddenly stopped working and all I could get that would really work was the specially designed for Blogger one that Google did. The one you wrote seems to actually WORK searching the site.

  4. You probably have javascript turned off and don't see my fancy clock in the sidebar either.....

  5. The only thought, I will leave you with is I started experimenting with /label

    This is the Base Search.
    http://neufneuf.blogspot.com/search?q=test

This may or may not pan out as a Label Search,

    e.g. http://neufneuf.blogspot.com/search/label?q=israel

    (note the /label in there)

(not sure how blogspot is handling it, maybe the entire label needs to be the base? It might be worth playing with in the future.. )

    e.g. http://neufneuf.blogspot.com/search/label/tibet?q=israel

Which results in even more weird results. ;o)

But I digress, I'm lettin er' roll now...
