I notice also that just as Ahmadinejad did not get reported as visiting Lebanon, but rather as going to visit Hezbollah, so too has Medvedev's nomination of Putin's deputy to serve as a replacement for the fired Moscow mayor been portrayed as Putin positioning himself for the next presidential elections. We don't even get to read straight headlines. They're packed with the propaganda... maybe even most of it, since that's all most people read.
Plus, and I don't know what exactly to make of this, there seem to be a lot of meetings between Russian heads of state and European heads of state lately... so I'm starting to wonder if our failed attempt to sink the euro to save the dollar might not have put some of them in a mind to make better alliances.... Just a thought.

Frank Lamb has good account on the visit at counter punch.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think Europe is looking at Russia differently because we are trying to sink both of them.
Can't be anything but good for the world....
ReplyDeleteComparatively anyway.
