And if yer wondering why I keep linking this guy, it's because he really is saying stuff you badly need to hear... over and over... ain't it great that we can play stuff over and over? It's such a huge help in cutting through. OMG, a lot of help for us is right here, if we will but discern and stop to pay attention.
Busy holidays? Pfeh.
I have shunned participation in them since I was in high school. Seriously. They aren't celebrations. They're funerals for what would have been our real lives if we were not so frantically trying to comport ourselves to social expectations. Every Christmas and every Thanksgiving of my entire childhood was spent in the bosom of intense family dysfunction and make-work and chaos and no parking space and simmering resentments and insincere gestures... all to get at that great dinner and that mound of presents. So not worth it. First I tried going out and buying everyone the most fantastic Christmas presents they ever got, made a big hairy deal out of GENUINELY lavishing goodies on everyone on my list. Then I tried making stuff for everyone. Then I started pleading for us to not get ANY presents or do the tree or cook or any of it, and all go to, say, the Ahwahnee together for the whole holiday... or go storm Downieville... or go to some fabulous lodge somewhere, completely relax, enjoy ourselves and each other. Nope. Gotta do the done thing.
So I took to long walks on the beach alone for my holidays. I'm not sorry for me, but I am sorry for you.

Well, and... HERE is an mp3 that's three and a half hours and I've never heard it before... which would mean you probably haven't either.... And, man, you oughta just quit being such a tightass and listen. The song at the first break is worth it... BIG TIME... and so are a bunch of Tsarion's turns of phrase in here. I just got snot and slobber all over me from laughing when he disses the advertisers of "digestive bisquits". C'mon, man, yer off work, the relatives are boring, and Tsarion gives you SO much food for thought.

Yep, going to the brothers house this yr to eat and it's not far from me. I told him there would be no gifts since I don't have a job. I'll be going somewere else next yr and the beach sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl at the Java Hut in town says I sound just like her mother. She does the same thing... the beach.... It's a feeling of reconnecting with source, which I think is a way better holiday than the commercial and insincere crap everyone's doing because that's what's done.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to the beach I have to be still for a few hours and just look and listen, it’s very primal to me and replenishes my being. It’s the salt air and after the 1st of the yr I need to go over to Monterey for just that feeling.
ReplyDeleteEnough of that I'm on the 2nd bottle of wine waiting for dinner to warm up
I think it's actually the negative ion bombardment from the surf. The air helps, for sure, but even when yer right here with the air, it's not like being right by those waves. I could tell you some way out and wonderful stories about me on the beach! It's definitely a place to go to get yer true self back. Surefire.
