Seems better than some pig making a rug out of him...
The zoo now wants to have Knut stuffed and put on display at Berlin's Museum of Natural History, the German news agency DAPD reported.
but taking him and burying him in the Arctic would have been a sign of respect, of having learned something, or even just the recognition that we need to learn something, but no. Knut will be stuffed and put on display that way.

  2. It made me cry.

I need a nap or a bath or a gun or something... maybe some ice cream.

  3. Except it would require a trip to the store. I seem to be on strike, storewise, or something, because I was a block away from it last night when I lost heart and came home, thinking I'd be up for it today. Well. Guess what...........

  4. I think it's better to stuff and mount him so people can see what a polar bear looks like without the zoo having to kidnap another live one for people to look at.

  6. I mean, it doesn't really apply since Knut was born at the zoo. His mother immediately rejected him and his twin, who died right away, and Knut was hand-raised there, but his whole life was full of troubles, through which he remained affable as heck.

If he'd been born where he belonged being born, his mother probably wouldn't have rejected him. He probably wouldn't have been as frail, with maybe a malformed brain. I don't know. As much as I do LOVE going to see the animals, ever since earliest childhood, seeing the black panther at the SF zoo, looking so abjectly demoralized, I have had a sick feeling about it.

I did not mind the panda craze so much because captivity was about their only hope of survival, and I am always thrilled to go in the lion house at feeding time, their roars being SO intense, vibrating every cell in one's body, but overall, no matter how nice they make their captivity, and no matter WHERE they were born, zoos are a fucking travesty of sentient being. I'm no PETA purist, but zoos should be OUT.
