Oh, my poppa's unhappy days. He's in there. Hard time making himself understood, but he's in there. Please leave me a note if anything big happens....

No one has to "marry" anyone else politically; no one has to embrace every tenet or belief that an anti-imperialist ally might hold. You simply have to say: "All of us, regardless of our other views, believe this truth to be self-evident: dismantling the empire will bring immediate and enormous benefits to our nation and to the world."

If in your travels you meet the Buddha, throw him through your tv set.

I've found that culture, however useful and important, is neither the foundation nor the ceiling of human experience, even if it is commonly used for walls.

I really consider President and Mrs. Mubarak to be friends of my family. So I hope to see him often here in Egypt and in the United States. —Hillary Clinton

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the headline my first thought was of the very version you posted.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite movies!
I love the flood scene!
When it first came out I went to see it... can't miss Coen Brothers stuff, ever, but mostly wait for the video/DVD. I was having a seriously, seriously, seriously rotten day. The woman who cut my hair was pissed off at me for some imaginary insult to her sensibilities and gave me the most fucked up haircut in haircut history. Many moons later, when I ran into her on accident, she fell all over herself apologizing to me for it. She had thought I was being an insensitive jerk about her family problems, and had to find out from professionals that I had actually been trying to help her keep it together and be better for them. Dumb as a post... and there are HAZARDS to dealing with people that dumb.... Anyway, after the haircut to top off my awful day, I saw it up on the theater marquee and just went in and caught the next showing. It erased everything awful. I loved it. I bought the DVD for them to play at the "memory unit" on the big screen tv for my dad. Good part about being senile is you can see it all over again for the first time no matter how many times you watch....
ReplyDeleteThe music is what turns me on the most in the movie - all the old bluegrass folks - OMG ecstasy!
ReplyDeleteThat's the best part for me and my dad, too, but the rest of it is close....
