I think I'm gonna have to put my song on a cd to play in my go cart over and over and over and over....

Words just DON'T cut it. They're only potent enough when delivered face-to-face and spoken in service of PERFORMING on our responsibilities. That isn't happening on the internet. Can't. There is the hint of real usefulness for this crucial aspect evidenced in, say, Wikileaks or Cryptome, or any of the sites trying to deliver REAL information, the goods, to those who will speak the important words only as the hallmark of ACTUAL performance on the manifestation of positive intent, but that is about the size of it.

The rest is theater.

we need each other

Arianna is out there waxing altruistic in a much too limp and open for galaxies of groupthink deceit, but it's headed in the right direction... which is a thing the controllers pour tainted into the mainstream when they can tell we're trying to wake up.

I have, for at least twenty years, known for certain that indians—called "Native Americans" by the PC, which indians are NOT—had the most advanced culture humanly possible, ever since I decided to get my ass into some serious libraries and find out exactly WHAT was the state of the tribes upon their encounters with wasichu. I was shocked to find that what "we" had taken for primitive, or even savage, was in fact far advanced from anything "we" brought to these shores, and not just for that time, but also for this time. Technology is not completely out of place in them, but STUPID technology is.

Yes, if you are solid with your community, or think you can be, go for it. But be careful what you choose to call your community. Tribes, communities, don't actually work so well for living things unless they are based in a common ideology or belief system, some thread based more on the spiritual than the material. This has been proven thousands and thousands of times over the course of all known history. Sometimes it was mandatory to go to another tribe to find a mate, and sometimes just going to another clan of your tribe was good enough. Wars were not wars as we think of them. They were like we think of as war games. Their purpose was to keep the men ready to defend the women and children, against man, beast or natural disaster, to keep men men, WITHOUT slaughter. There were many other things designed toward this end, and directed toward maintaining their advanced society through the millennia. I mention "culture" and "society" in the singular, despite the number of tribes, because they all shared the same culture, the same society—only the words and traditions and other metaphors differing, sometimes more, sometimes hardly at all.

I read a letter from the Cherokee council of chiefs to the President of the United States and realized it all, everything else I'd read fell into place like the tumblers in a safe about to open its secrets to you. They were trying to civilize "us". Wasichu is too thick with exceptionalism to even notice the most blatant bid for his enlightenment.

Each tribe's name translated from their language into "The People" or "True Humans", in the sense of we-are-human-beings, NOT like "The Chosen", as in we're better than everyone else and God has picked us to get everything we want. Today, they are collectively known as "First Nations"—which is exactly right. They were here first, at least in relation to "us". Insofar as that makes them feel "chosen", we, and their ancestors, should not, would not, do not, approve. Insofar as that gives us humility and informs us, we should contemplate it with everything we've got.

So you should be picking the people you know you trust, no matter where they are, right now. Right now. And if you don't think you have a good enough handle on trust itself, maybe I can help make that clearer to you. Just ask.

living through it

I am amazed/comforted to see others agreeing about our need to form tribes. I know a lot of bozos equate tribalism with hostility to outsiders, but it's really about insuring the welfare of everyone in the tribe.

You're thinking that it won't devolve into chaos; it'll devolve into a blatant and horrific fascist clamp down and society will be the farthest thing from chaos. Call me a fairy dust lefty, whatever, but I don't think we're going to stand for it, and I don't think they're as prepared to combat us as they are working so hard to convince us about... ESPECIALLY not outside metropolitan areas. So, even if you can't bring yourself to throw everything down and move out to a farm or a doable wilderness with people on whom you know you can rely, perhaps you should be cooking it up as a dream scenario in case you find you were again being too slow.

to reïterate

I had been trying hard to etch out the driving it would take to get my old Mac to the Genius Bar clear down in Corte Madera, thinking I'd surely need to get to the dermatologist down there, and I surely do, but have not been able to get to it, what with the train wreck with my father's situation and my lack of funds, and Goldie's advanced old age, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.... The et ceteras needing to remain inexplicit or all our heads will explode.

Suddenly, my friend Jim sent me a link to the instructions on how to diagnose the problem myself. OMG! Turns out, after all that, you don't need no stinkin' geniuses. You need yer trusty little computer screwdriver, the proper diopter cheaters and Bob's yer uncle. I followed the instructions to a T and my old Mac yelped at me that its logic board was pau. Dead. Not coming back. Sayonara. Pft. A pang of longing shook me hard.

Plan A had been to replace the power source, which I believed to be the problem, and give it to Old Uncle Dave, who hankers after a good G5, trusting the old Motorola chips so much more than Intel chips. I would ferry all my old stuff off there and onto this one, clean my shit off the hard drive and make a present to him of his heart's desire. Damn.

Plan B has been to remove the RAM cards and send them to Billy, who has the identical Mac with less RAM, and remove the hard drive, stick it in one of those boxes they make for them and plug it in here to be my backup drive, and we are now in the midst of executing Plan B... but wondering if there is a way to convert a dead iMac into just a damn nice monitor for someone without it costing too much money. That is one gorgeous monitor and I hate to think of it going to the dump... the computer grave yard. Going to ask around about that one.

Anyway, yesterday I was on the phone with Billy, informing him that his RAM cards would be hurtling toward him, when he told me how much he hated my funny-ferocious image here, and started in on his shpiel about how young people could probably start learning things from me if they didn't think I was some ornery old white broad. My whole Buddhist me leapt up out of her repose at the prospect of another means of speaking all-sentient-beings-speak to all sentient beings, but I was bucking at it nonetheless. I think it's despicable that so many people post images of themselves when they were radically younger, or radically airbrushed, or both. How vain. How approval hungry. How shallow. Yiiiiiick! But that part about the poor younger things with the purposefully shitty educations getting glimpses of some true things grabbed me by my bodhisattva throat.

It turned out that Billy had only been setting me up to receive a stream of porn images to do in its stead, but it left me still considering the wisdom of changing the image. Strangers don't get the joke, don't understand the irony, the taunt for wimps, and why should I scare them off my page before they get a chance to really become frightened anyway?

I shouldn't.

So, after over a day of consideration, and NO help from you guys, thank you very much, I decided that this image is the truest one. It will still not resonate with young people looking for their peers, but it catches the expression of truth freaks when faced with this world. I'm not bringing back up my babe pictures so Billy can think back on all the times he chased me around the warehouse when I was nineteen. Nope. I love you Billy, but yer a damn perv and I'm not going there.

I started this blog merely to be on Blogger, thinking it was some way to be of service to Inter-Way Atriot-Pay, and then ended up deciding to start blogging stuff I knew my busy friends would never find on their own. Over the years it has come up for me over and over and over again, mostly by way of trying to accommodate others who are concerned with the popularity of their blogs, to start doing things in the manner known best to optimize one's appearances on the search engines, all sorts of ways to get yourself noticed by more people, but they're all tricks, all the same kind of shit car salesmen give you whenever you happen past their showrooms. And none of it shows the least reverence for KARMA, for karma landing someone where they are supposed to be. So I still shun it and rely on karma to do what it does. But it occurs to me that you could help send desperate people in this direction when you come upon them in your wanderings on the tubes... if you are so inclined... a kind of karmic enhancement device that isn't dishonest. I don't do Twitter and MyFace, but maybe some of you do. Or, when you comment somewhere, you could put this page in the URL field on comments forms if you don't have your own.

I actually have found myself happy that most of my visitors are about my age and not flaming maniacs, get most of the historical references, know how old Jack Benny was, that sort of thing, but my conversation with Billy reminded me that this is not exactly appropriate to the bodhisattva vow and so I have bothered with all this. Don't tell me the image of me blubbering is going to scare people off now, please... at least not for a while... I go through too many changes about this stuff.

Bottom line: I love you.

.

Oh, oh, and I am NOT a white broad, okay? I'm a quarter indian, a quarter Portuguese, a quarter Dutch and a quarter Cherman. I may have alabaster skin with a bunch of little brown speckles all over, but I'm not a goddam old white broad! Please keep that straight.

.

I have been lobbying for a position as the goddess of replanting for a huge timber company. I don't hold out a lot of hope as they have a very large backlog of laid-off workers who would be miffed about it, but I do have that completely-fantastical-if-it-were-not-true survival rate that might edge me into it somehow. I mention this because, despite the terribletude of so much, and my intractable sleep disorder thing, I feel radically better than I have in years. My eyesight is trying to ratchet down yet another long notch and that is irking me big, and I think I need a few precancers that are beginning their run for actual cancer frozen off of me, but, hell, THINK of all the revolutionary zeal I could pour into the repopulation of the redwood forest! I could go back to killing myself every winter toward this end with renewed vigor... and better pay. You would then be treated to a long string of hilarious images of me in my savage state, covered with mud and more bedraggled than the most forlorn mutt you ever saw... bellowing epithets over my not-a-tub... the works.

Somebody needs to teach me how to train my Mac to wake up and blow Reveille at me.

.

I really mean that love you part. I really mean all of it.

But not to just flat out invest in repopulating the species we have decimated.

I see the restoration people down on the Mattole, after twenty years of billing themselves as river and watershed restoration types, receiving untold millions in grants along the way, have only recently been furrowing their brows about the coho that have been needing restoring all that time. I'm remembering the rednecks there bitching to me full time about the DEARTH of restoring the environmentalists were accomplishing. They were getting fancy new driveways that were graded wrong, such that they'd start sliding right on down into the Mattole again come the first storm, but marking them on their foundation's books as restoration work anyway. But I guess up here we are at least managing to pay some indians to figure out the problems none of us will be able to get corrected. That's something.

We got a call at six ayem to say they'd sent Poppa to the ER because they thought he was having a stroke. We called the hospital and they said they'd call us back and let us know what was up. We called again a couple hours later. And an hour after that. And then we stopped calling and just drove over there and sat in the waiting room for a half hour for the nurse to come out and say they'd sent him back to the old people's home.

Jesus fuck.

Anyway, I fed him his lunch and got him some root beer and some M&Ms to help make up for his awful morning. He said all his mornings are awful.

I know. I know. Oh, I so know, and I'm almost dead of not being able to fix it for him. It's just an endless case of Who Do I Kill? Anyway, he sucked down that root beer like it was going outta style and munched down the candy handily. That put some color back in his cheeks.

Jesus fuck. Wake up! Wake up, America!
Al-Qaida cleric: Yemen to be Obama's Afghanistan
By PAUL SCHEMM, Associated Press Writer – 15 mins ago

CAIRO – A U.S.-born, al-Qaida-linked cleric warned the American people that President Barack Obama will mire U.S. forces in Yemen just as Afghanistan, in a message appearing Monday on militant websites.

The 13-minute audio message, in English, comes just days after the U.S. Treasury department put Anwar al-Awlaki on its list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

"If George W. Bush is remembered as being the president who got America stuck in Afghanistan and Iraq, it's looking like Obama wants to be remembered as the president who got America stuck in Yemen," he said.

Separately, al-Qaida's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri vowed that the American troops would leave both Afghanistan and Iraq in "defeat."

U.S officials worry al-Qaida's offshoot in Yemen has found refuge in the country's remote, lawless areas and could be plotting attacks against American and other Western targets. Critics, meanwhile, have warned that imposing a deadline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq could provide the terror network a propaganda tool.

Al-Zawahri praised Taliban and al-Qaida-linked groups, saying they are "moving from one victory to another" in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Taliban will "enter Kabul in triumph and Obama will leave it in fear," he said in the hourlong message, his first since May.

"Oh Obama, whether you admit it or not, Muslims have defeated you in Afghanistan and in Iraq and you will be defeated in Palestine, Somalia and the Arab Megrab," he said, referring to Islamic countries in northern Africa. "You will not be defeated militarily and economically but most important you will be defeated morally."

The message appeared with Arabic subtitles over still photos of al-Awlaki and accused Fort Hood shooter, U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, and the accused would-be Christmas Day bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Al-Awlaki, who is on the run in Yemen, is believed to have had contacts with the accused bomber in the Christmas Day attempt to bomb a U.S. airliner. He also is believed to have exchanged e-mails with Hasan, who allegedly killed 13 people at Fort Hood.

In the audio message, al-Awlaki mocked U.S. efforts to combat al-Qaida in Yemen, saying its strikes were only sending recruits streaming to the terror group and had "accomplished for them (al-Qaida) the work of years."

He added that the Yemeni government, which the U.S. is supporting with millions in military aid, was swindling the Obama administration.

Al-Awlaki began the message by highlighting the inconvenient new airport security measures in the United States brought on by its wars against Muslims and said they still could not keep people safe and he predicted America's demise.

"Imperial hubris is leading America to its fate: a war of attrition, a continuous hemorrhage that would end with the fall and splintering of the United States of America," he said.

Born in New Mexico, al-Awlaki, 39, is not perceived by American officials as a major tactical terror leader on par with al-Qaida founder Osama bin Laden. But his role as an inspirational exhorter for al-Qaida's cause and his growing involvement in plots aimed at the U.S. has made him a prime target in the effort to counter the militant movement.

Six months ago the U.S. government put al-Awlaki on a secret list of targets to be captured or killed, according to U.S. officials.

Despite ties to two of the 9/11 hijackers and the Fort Hood gunman, al-Awlaki has avoided terrorism charges over the years because he never crossed the line into being an active member of al-Qaida — someone who recruits and trains terrorists and plots attacks on the U.S.

But that changed with his involvement with Abdulmutallab, the young recruit to al-Qaida's nascent Yemen branch, who tried to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day.

WAKE UP, AMERICA!

I think you ought to take a gander at what happens to great humans when the dominant paradigm will kill them if they step out of it. In Spotted Eagle's day, it was the onrush of wasichu in numbers too vast, incogitant and psychotic to tame. True humans are made one at a time when—suddenly or gradually—the wider culture does not support it. It does not support it here. Maybe it does not support it anywhere on earth now. I'm not sure about everywhere, but I know this was not the case in very ancient China and it was not the case in North America before the onslaught.

Last night I listened to a guy who states the problem pretty clearly and from the perspective of those yet extant to whom the truth is still more important than what we, or the dominant among us, would simply prefer to think. I don't know if you can listen to him and get the same sense of dread, loss, horror, chagrin, cosmic distress as I do, but you ought to give it a whirl. It's not that much different from the playlist I linked last night, but he has the freedom of putting it into his own ramble in this mp3. The message about some of the prime ways this has happened to you is sound. Cogent. The truth. You don't live in a society that can stand to think it. Fer crapsakes, he reminds you that art is not entertainment! How long has it been since you glimpsed that supremely salient bit of cellular memory? Pay attention! Wipe the sleeping powder off your aura. Hear SENSE.

Everyone of influence and education is out there spending their entire productive capacity duplicating the filthy self-elevation, self-justification over bottomless greed. Bottomless greed, posing as probity. You think you don't matter because you have not risen to that level of model citizenship. You're just trying to keep food on the table, trying to keep a table on which to serve the food. But humanity once existed for the betterment of itself and everything alive, including the mother of us all, the pale blue dot who feeds us and gives us air to breathe. This can never be true again if we don't insist on it, with our bodies, our hearts, our spirit, our being itself.

I flipped over to the convenient little streaming of the holocaust in the gulf at PBS and then started reading some of their blog posts. One brought the news that the Fed is asking Gulf Coast banks to help those hurt by the spill. Don't laugh. This is what they propose can help lift the millions being poisoned to death out of their abjection:
★ Temporarily waiving late payment charges, ATM fees and penalties for early withdrawal of savings.

★ Expediting lending decisions when possible, consistent with safety and soundness.

★ Extending or restructuring borrower debt obligations in anticipation of the receipt of funds based on claims the borrower may have filed with BP.

★ Easing credit terms or fees for loans to certain borrowers, consistent with prudent banking practice.

"These measures could help customers recover financially and be better positioned to honor their obligations," the central bank's statement said. "In the affected areas, these efforts can contribute to the health of the local community and the long-term interests of the institution and its customers."
Take only the briefest moment to absorb the brain-frying audacity of such dangerous blather, because it is only a flash card in the mental imagery you need to take the point. PBS is not your friend. It once was much nicer and more helpful, but... ultimately... PBS has never been your friend.

One good way to suss out a list of brain poisoning sites to visit is to click on the sites PBS and C-SPAN link. It's not a 100% but good enough for government work. So I just clicked-in to FiveThirtyEight from there to see how that jackass is busying himself in his self-proclaimed ascendence to the pinnacle of statistical analysis. The damp little human slide rule for the mavens of greed, hate and delusion is hard at his completely worthless steam generation, oblivious to life itself... as ever. A brief skim shows he is nearly dead of vexation that none of the mainstream publications who want his stuff will give him nearly enough room to present it fully. Don't worry Nate. It's completely meaningless in any form and you are getting paid.

As you know, I've been feeling the cracks through which one might discern the light by means of devoted searching on the tubes narrowing, filling with silt and hardening into the rock encasement that will keep out the light as effectively as your television set and radio, as that shrunken wad of newsprint you might yet, for sentiment's sake, be retrieving every morning from the end of your drive. I have seen that all the very successful blogs are already corporate-owned and controlled. I have seen that a vast swath of what we have deemed the "progressive blogosphere" has formed, and is still forming, into the flip side of corporatism: the nonprofit side. This is supposed to make them good guys. No. They're corporations. They exist to pay their employees. A regular corporation exists to pay its shareholders. A nonprofit corporation exists to pay its employees, cover the nut, enable the doing of unprofitable things the government has deemed worthy enough not to tax. The rub is: they exist on donations. The moment they become recognizable enough for their putatively good work, they start getting lots and lots of big grants and donations, in exchange for minor things like seats on their boards. The dominant paradigm eats all nonprofits that might have begun to have a salutary effect, keeping the image of that benefit while completely vitiating that benefit, the very benefit for which they were granted their tax exempt status to begin with.

The persons whose nonprofits reach this level of success and acclaim are very, very happy to be receiving those salaries and spending the rest of their lives deluding you, making excuses to themselves for deluding you, making a motherfucking buck... for merely using the prefab excuses that don't excuse but do delude so they can have the motherfucking bucks to keep that table upon which to put the food killing EVERYTHING for pay has made possible.

Not one of them brave enough to look up from the delusion generation to identify the true lethality feeding them.

There's a guy out there, Kevin Zeese, who is gathering up some of the brighter "progressive activists" into a little network of nonprofit status activists for social change. Most of these people do not realize yet how pernicious this really is, even as most of them are already showing signs of making themselves more alluring to the oligarchs who want to fund progressive causes. Those particular oligarchs were the ones who brought us Barack Obama, Wall Street before Main Street, mandatory health insurance instead of universal healthcare... et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So it seems to me almost as though this Zeese asshole is following me around to find the starving guys with something worthy to say, to load into his network of paying clients. This is worse than openly fascist corporations because it is covertly fascist. It is as fascistic but very much less apparently so... like when you stand up Dubya and Genghis Ponzi Yoo next to each other. It was obvious with Dubya, and much weaker. It was not obvious at all with GP Yoo, but much stronger... though, at last, I think most of us can see it now... which helps a little.

Not enough.

Not anything close to nearly enough.

Spotted Eagle had no choice. He was outnumbered and outgunned by a staggeringly huge margin. He fought until there was absolutely no ray of possibility to succeed and then stopped. It is not the same for us. We are an ocean of billions being held back by fewer than Spotted Eagle had under his command. They use the media and the universities, they pump us nonstop with completely deluded and outright false information and let us brainwash each other with it. They are SO weak they could be splatted against the dead embers of Gaia like one fat fly and that is why the ONLY times you ever see them pretending to want to do something pleasing to the masses is when we are all grumpy about something. We have yet to outlast their infinitude of theatrics, of tricks, though. We don't stay grumpy till it's DONE. We become grumpy, but are swiftly lulled by lies that approximate what we want to hear and the power of the fat fly to slaughter and pillage for fun and profit remains at play, remains the arbiter of the future of everything, remains what we've made of the world, remains the cause of everything that leads away from the betterment of life for all living things.

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything left anywhere more important for you to see than this. So. Click the fucking links. There is a chance something in one or another of them will wake you up.

.

There is a fatal flaw in the iron law of oligarchy. It only holds for populations dying of this sickness, this dread mental disorder. When those who rise to the top are true humans, are people of courage and heart and creativity and love, there is no detriment. The only way wasichu can rise in such a society is through violence and planet-scorching deceit. They could not rise even then if the population would enforce true humanity against the sick ones.

You would not be a slave, would not be watching your home wither in abjection to a fat fly, if you'd had the courage to splat it, if you'd not let your head fill with poison, with the whispers of snakes telling you that breaking the cycle of violence must take precedence over saving the world.

So, yes, it is your karma. We would not be in this mess, being eaten alive by fascists, if your failure of courage hadn't let you lap up every excuse they ever whisper in your ear.

The only way to break that karma is to learn it, see it, swear off it, return to the true human smothering to death behind the façade of your bent sense of identity... your personality, your ego, your political preferences, your corrupted sense of what constitutes caring for your family, your alienation from everyone around you, the works. You fucking went to Yale to get a PhD in it. You fucking turn it on to refill your brain every night when you flop down exhausted in front of the tube. You fucking squint at it before the newsprint is too smudged to read every single morning to fill yourself with it over your coffee before you head out to the salt mines. It yaps at you over your car radio. Planet-swallowing foundations present it to you elegantly in glossy magazines. You need to be conversant in it, agreeable about it at parties, or the "cognoscenti" [what a joke] will look down their noses at you, sniff and go off to masturbate over what an illiterate jackass you are. Everywhere. Everyone. It's a very, very bad nightmare. The worst kind. The kind that rules the world.

So if I seem to be harping at you, think of me as your alarm clock. It's time to wake up.

.

Don't tsk, you somnambulant fuckers:
MIAMIFederal authorities said Friday they are conducting the largest Medicare fraud bust ever in five different states and arrested dozens of suspects accused in scams totaling $251 million.
Bankers who stole trillions still bask in their mansions. Halliburton took billions and skated off to Dubai. They're not even contemplating charging anyone at BP.

ARE you outta your mind?

Oh, here, let's make a little pile of headlines sentient beings should never face:
★ Afghan soldier's motive for killing Brits unclear

★ Transitional vs. Permanent Homes for Haiti's Displaced

★ BP, scientists try to make sense of well puzzle

★ Bank of America profits top $3 billion

★ Analysis: Slap for Goldman but still a win for SEC
That only took five minutes because there was a phone call and I had to go pee in the middle of it.

I was dreaming of needing a color code and it was needing to be an impenetrable black with a very dark but still brilliant green streak in it. I'd've made you a representation of it but I can't seem to make that green happen... and if I ever do, maybe I can also get the depth into the black... and if ever I get it perfect for you, I have this feeling it will be too abstract to say itself to you.

Nothing like moral outrage to put the spark of life back in a body.

BB2 added this link to the mix on the post below, and it's just typical of all the evidence at trial that was screaming for any free and decent juror to return a flat Second-degree Murder verdict, with commentary to the affect that it was SO obviously gratuitous as to make it verge on FIRST-degree Murder. BB2 also says the feds are looking into the feasibility of taking on some "hate crime" bullshit to "involuntary manslaughter" and much as I want this pig to rot in prison for a very, very long time, I don't want those fuckers putting this crap on top of already too much crap. It's just an effort to take political advantage at the price of further ruining our quite nearly DEAD justice system.

We should as stridently reject the DOJ on this as we do the filthy verdict in the COLD-BLOODED MURDER of Oscar Grant. We should try to take comfort that the guy's karma is permanently ruined. He will be a pariah for the rest of his life, barring some transcendental enlightenment and transcendental atonement for his crime. And we should be dragging those fucks at Main Justice out from behind their desks and never letting them back.

[I chose this image for Oscar because the facial expression is that of a true human looking at the dangerous twits, aka wasichu, who do this sort of thing... one third amusement, two thirds contempt... in the expression, of course... because the contempt is unquestionably wholehearted.]

Mont. group shuts down cannabis caravans
By MATT VOLZ, Associated Press Writer – 7 mins ago

HELENA — A Montana advocacy group is shutting down its traveling medical marijuana clinics amid criticism that the so-called cannabis caravans have added thousands of people to the state registry without conducting thorough patient screenings.

The Montana Caregviers Network has hosted the one-day clinics in hotels and conference centers across Montana for more than a year. For a $150 fee, the group brought together those seeking to become medical marijuana patients with doctors willing to prescribe pot.

Starting next week, the group will forgo the clinics and instead team up with medical marijuana distributors — called caregivers in Montana — to provide regular doctor's office hours in Billings, Bozeman and Helena, in addition to the group's base in Missoula.

"It is being changed partially because of the criticism of the traveling clinics. Also, from the business end, it's no longer sustainable," group spokesman Chris Arneson said. "The traveling clinics no longer allow us to serve our patients the best we can."

The clinics were a major factor in Montana's medical marijuana patient registry jumping from 842 people at the end of 2008 to just about 20,000 at the end of June.

But over the past few months, the clinics have come under criticism as being assembly lines that sees hundreds of people at a time, but at the expense of proper medical examinations.

An interim legislative committee drafting a bill to shore up the state's medical marijuana law has been hearing from people who say the pot boom goes against the aim of the law to provide care to people with the most debilitating illnesses or conditions.

Meanwhile, the state medical board tried to curtail the mass screenings with a position paper released at the end of May saying that doctors who recommend medical marijuana must follow the same standards as doctors prescribing other medicine.

The board fined a physician who had seen about 150 people in 14 1/2 hours at one of those clinics last year.

The Montana Caregivers Network has a doctor who now works full-time with the group in Missoula. Under the new model, he will go to Billings, Bozeman and Helena once a week to provide recommendations for new patients and for current ones seeking to renew their one-year eligibility, Arneson said.

The Montana Caregivers Network will still handle the records and still charge $150 per recommendation.

Board of Medical Examiners Executive Director Jean Branscum was out of the office on Thursday and Friday and did not return requests for comment.

46 warships and 7,000 marines to costa rica?

Whut?
|| - To my knowledge at the present time, Costa Rica is not suffering from any "humanitarian" crisis.

|| - The article did not make it clear what sort of "humanitarian missions" might take place.

|| - The article did not mention where any "humanitarian mission" might take place.

|| - Based on the truly horrific, drug crime related slaughters we have witnessed in Mexico, wouldn't it be better conducting these kinds of heavy weapon "anti-narcotics operations" in northern Mexico?

|| - With what is probably the world's worst environmental disaster going on right now in the Gulf of Mexico, surely it would be more appropriate to conduct "humanitarian missions" in the Gulf?

|| - Or, could these crucial warships and the 7,000 US Marines be fleeing from something far more dangerous that is about to happen in the Gulf of Mexico?

|| - The article did not make it clear whether these vessels would be patrolling off the Pacific or Atlantic coast but either way, is it possible they are on their way to Venezuela? Either as a show of force or something more serious?

|| - Does anyone know if any of these ships carry nuclear weapons?
Whut?

It seems to me guys like Jeremy Scahill don't keep writing about this stuff for their health. Yes, yes, I'm sure they're all pleased to be able to make their way in the world by reporting on things it is vital for us to know, but it's vital for us to know ONLY if we translate the knowledge into action. It isn't supposed to be like watching the latest episode of CSI.

You get that. Right?
