one two punch

PoliticsTV has made various video clips of parts of the Gonzales hearing, and it's all Democrats in there so far. There is a great one of Schumer grilling El Torturador, but no clip of Lindsey Graham coming directly after this and laying waste to what composure the little jerk had managed to retain. Lindsey Graham was also disdainful of him in his confirmation hearing. Even though they spelled his name wrong, Slate Magazine's characterization of it was:
Sen. Lindsay Graham is the lone Republican to blast Gonzales. His boyish face comes paired with a kindergartner's hyperactivity, as he impatiently rocks his chair while waiting for his turn. During Gonzales' answers to others' questioning, Graham sometimes wears a look of confusion mingled with disgust. "I think we've dramatically undermined the war effort by getting on a slippery slope in terms of playing cute with the law," Graham, a reserve Air Force JAG officer, says. He adds later, "And I think you weaken yourself as a nation when you try to play cute and become more like your enemy instead of like who you want to be."
I sincerely hope that more evidence of the good behavior of the Republicans in these hearings starts appearing in the liberal alternative media.

Look at the Wikipedia and Congresspedia entries for him. I just did and I take back what I said about him being a bad person. I just couldn't bear his strong support of Alito for Supreme Court, but I'm starting to see ways of making that actually work for the recovery of the Constitution now that it's a done deal. And I'm actually starting to think Lindsey Graham would make a good president if there were a strong Democratic Majority in Congress. I think he'd make a better one than any of the candidates we have as of now. The man is very clearly extremely competent, and also pretty clearly puts country ahead of party. If he could be induced to nominate liberals for any Supreme Court vacancies during his term, I'm pretty sure I'd vote for him.

[Well, I'm not really very sure. His positions on certain issues make me darn uncomfortable, but his competence and demonstrated bipartisanship in certain crucial areas definitely count for a lot with me. These are crucial factors in the hope to regain our country. When the Rovian Machine has been toppled, and with strong enough checks and balances he might really come through for us. This is absolutely the kind of stuff we should be considering if we want our country back.]

[What especially needs to be ruled out is any affinity he has with the Dominionist Movement. So if I'm going to stay on this thinking-of-taking-Republicans-seriously-enough-to-entertain-the-notion-of-ever-voting-for-one kick, I'm going to have to get to the bottom of this.]
