He once made me nearly giddy, withering El Torturador in his seat for playing cute with the law, and now he's playing cute with the law himself! Someone keeps spiking my coffee with LSD. Somebody! Anybody! Where the hell is my country?

This really is serious. Little-known fact, a former friend of mine who was in a position to know for sure insisted that Lindsey Graham is a thoroughly decent man who was freakin' about the flaunting of the Constitution by this administration. When he then voted for the Military Commissions Act, I tried to convince myself that he might just be doing it because he wasn't going to make any headway opposing it and might make some if he stuck to the party line. I didn't actually begin to believe this old friend until I saw Graham scare the crap out of El Torturador in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the subject of detainees at Gitmo. But now he's yelling all this shit that is absolutely and unequivocally batshit crazy fascist ranting. So. So....

Will someone please explain to me what is turning decent people into unAmerican fiends?
