We're bailing them out enough here to end up having helped them regroup in their Uzbek operations, and THAT will be where the jobs are when this global-worth-looting job is over.

Here is the text of the article I linked last night, just in case it wants to go away for some reason:
UZBEKISTAN: EMBATTLED US AUTOMAKER MAY OPEN PLANT IN UZBEKISTAN

Struggling American car manufacturer General Motors is planning on opening a factory in Uzbekistan. The joint venture with UzAvtosanoat would create 1,200 new jobs in the Tashkent region and potentially manufacture 360,000 engines annually, CA-news.org reported December 19.

GM’s ongoing brush with bankruptcy could push back, or even scuttle plans for the new facility.

Uzavtosanoat’s Asaka car plant in Andijan produced its millionth vehicle in November this year, and, in partnership with GM, currently makes seven models of cars, including the Chevrolet Epica, Captiva and Tacuma. "Last year, the enterprise produced 170,000 cars, and in the first nine months of this year almost 140,000 cars. The plant, opened in 1996, today employs more than 5,000 people," according to the Uzbek National News Agency.

In November, sales of Uzbek-made cars in Russia slumped by 25 percent and some 15,000 vehicles have been returned to the Asaka plant since September. To help stimulate sales, the Uzbek government earlier this month directed Asia-Invest Bank, a subsidiary of National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan in Russia, to open a $25 million credit line to Russian distributors of Uzbek vehicles for 2009. The money is for car dealerships that are wholly owned by UzAvtosanoat to help maintain sales in Russia.

Right, right, no doubt GM Uzbekistan is a whole different corporation... just owned by the same people. Of course, of course, but it's looking an awful lot like this is their way of getting the jobs out of the United States.
