[click image]I think it's been a long time since I mentioned my admiration for Thomas S. Szasz. I read this book some 20 years ago and its transcendental sense helped me immeasurably. It consolidated my urge to "leave the world" and devote myself to Zen study, which I have not one particle of a doubt saved my life, and hope fervently will ultimately have saved many others as well. I cannot stress strongly enough the courage and perspicacity that have to characterize Dr. Szasz, who is nearly 90 years old now.
For anyone who feels their very sanity is at risk in the psychotic political and social environment we find ourselves in now, there is no better recommendation I can make than this book... unless you wish to, and can make the necessary concessions to earning power to embark on decades familiarizing yourself with the wisdom of the ancients.
No matter how stressed, how witless with alarm, how addicted to gonzo forms of frustration relief you may be. This book contains your map for both the mental poise and vital energy conservation needed to perform as a true adult in this horrifying global mess we call the world.
I also just found a link with a long list of more of his work that may be of interest to you.
