Through his promise to "send those Welfare bums back to work" he also managed to send those old Welfare bums back to their maker, so to speak. Within two weeks of his vaunted Medi-Cal cuts, every convalescent hospital patient on Medi-Cal was dead. To my amazement, far from turning him into a pariah, this was proof of his greatness to Republicans everywhere.

Another of his great accomplishments in this regard was emptying out the patients at State nuthouses onto the streets, very many of whom wound up in prison because there was no other mechanism for dealing with their incompatibility with the general population.
