What a man! What a great American. It makes me cry to see, finally, someone I recognize as my neighbor in the midst of this circus. I am remembering my shock that this was not the reaction to 9/11.

Did my heart good to hear it, that's for sure. That's how I was brought up. We learned that those who will trade freedom for security deserve neither, and we all agreed that was just right at the time. I don't know what's happened. I feel like I was sucked up into an alternate universe by a chronosynclastic infundibulum in my sleep or something.... This was the first hint of home I've heard in forever.
