If she were a senator for, say, eight years, she would be the ideal first woman president.... And, uh, there are those who will not brook Kennedy presidents, have done quite a lot of killing to convince us. So, call me a conspiracy nut, but... I was pretty sure it was Teddy wanting her to become a senator, not spending more time with him in his final illness. I also don't care what you say, she had the job. It was a done deal... all but the formal announcement. So.

Joe's been at it thirty years, finding affordable heating for the old and infirm. Chavez just cut him off, hopefully temporarily, but it really is a wonder he has been willing to help this long. The pain and trouble we have inflicted on his people, on him, on people all over the world, and now on Gaza, must surely try the generosity of even the greatest people....

Seems I've had enough of dying Kennedys, and the mere thought of it now sets me off. I guess even if he dies of old age at 110, it'd still be too much for me. I remember what good news it was that he got his brother's seat in the Senate, seemed the whole country was filled with the most excellent sons of a skunk, and our prospects in 1962 were so rosy for it. I so hope this seizure was just an anomaly and that he will be okay.

There's a "Through the Years" slide show at the link that drives home how much grief he has endured in his life. He's maybe the most experienced with funerals of anyone alive. I'm thinking of the look on his face during the Alito confirmation hearings when the Republicans trotted out judges who'd been mentored by Bobby to sing of Alito's completely imaginary virtues.
