No one has to "marry" anyone else politically; no one has to embrace every tenet or belief that an anti-imperialist ally might hold. ReplyDeleteIronic - I just finished watching a program on killer earthquakes. The Sichuan earthquake is one of the ones they covered. Devistating!
It made me cry to realize that the Chinese government would be so hurt by this disaster they would finally CEASE being such vigilant fucks about Tibet... that they've been getting SO many godawfully lethal disasters that they plum ran out of attitude. The hatefully immediate press of brute fascism from Katrina sprang instantly to mind. Well, sorry, guys, but China never does that. They do all kinds of other things that are awful enough, but they don't use disasters to kill off people who are in their way, and not even their decades-long rabid mistrust of all things Tibetan could make them go all murderating like that... or... at least not yet anyway.
