WHAT started all those fires?

.

Has anyone mentioned that? Does anyone know?

I'm not liking a monster conflagration guaranteed to keep Russian troops occupied at home right now. No. I'm not.

  1. Most reports I've seen blame the large amount of fires on the record heat and on poor responses by the government.

Other reports have stated that such fires are common in Siberia every year, but now are occurring close to densely inhabit areas as well.

Another cause is the draining of the peat blogs.

  2. Well, maybe if I could read Russian I could find a place that lists each of the thousands of fires burning and attributes the proximate cause. The underlying cause is important and I know that fires do just happen by lightning plenty often, but are Russians particularly careless with matches this year or what? Are sparks flying from too many welders near bone-dry tinder and peat?

I know Russia is many times bigger than California, and we too often have five to fifteen wildfires fires raging at the same time, but they're talking THOUSANDS of fires.

    Scary as shit worldwide too.

  3. That firefly link at worldwide is being very stubborn, or part is missing.

It took forever to load, but then was only a blank page.

Oh - third try was the charm - I think - now I have the FIRM frame up and it says it is loading the map - waiting, waiting.

Gonna try Internet explorer - maybe it's a firefox issue...

See - all I have to do is mention the problem and it fixes itself - map is now up in firefox.

  4. I wish the site wasn't so damn slow - frustrating when I wanted to try some of the options. Ran a speed test thinking Comcast was throttling me, but I'm at full speed 1.2meg.

OK - the site just popped an error message - "Service not available - try later" - I guess I'll try later.

  5. Oh, now see? THAT one popped up for me relatively fast. The one for Russia alone wouldn't work no matter what I tried.

YOU KNOW THIS SHIT ABOUT CHINESE CENSORSHIP OF THE INTERNET?

    GUESS WHAT!
