I can't believe I never saw this before. This guy is smokin'....

I was the cheer leader for a pool team as a girl... and we're not talking about slouches. These guys could play. Scary good pool. I always loved the clicking of the balls, loved to watch all the impossible shots being left in shape for the next. Some of them were fast like this guy, but they were usually the worst in a tight spot. Very hard for anyone this speedy to keep the trigonometry together to pull off a feat of this magnitude. No. It's impossible. They ALWAYS lose it. O'Sullivan isn't doing the math. That's the only way he can do it. Almost all men play using practice and math. Most of them don't even know it's math, but that's what they're doing. They flip when they miss because they have to re-plot their whole game, and then they get rattled and then they start losing.

I know what I'm talking about. I've hung with guys who would go to the pool hall and everyone in the place would line up to present them with "impossible" shots they always made. I've been with hustlers and with sportsmen. I know this stuff. I love the clicking of the balls. I used to play Pong with myself on the slowest setting with the biggest paddle, just to get that slow swoopy clicking. I love to play Mahjongg solitaire for that clicking. Once I went to the pool hall on Ladies' Night so I could just shoot all night for free. I am a seriously bad pool player. There are three reasons for this: [1] my eyes aren't straight, can't use them to gauge that sort of thing; and [2] I have huge boobs, and they really bungle the stroke too often; and [3] I don't give a damn if I sink any balls. I love the clicking and the felt, the stage lit table... I love, too, the seedy genius criminals who go all mushy and gentlemanly when I'm there. So I'm there with a table all to myself. Two guys are playing at the table next to me. I'm just making the balls click and missing everything and those two are giggling about it for an hour or so. Suddenly everything I hit started dropping in the pockets. I can't remember how many racks I ran.

I think after the second or so, both of my neighbors came over to watch. "Whoa, are you a hustler?"

Nope. I can't play for shit. Your guess is as good as mine.

Two more times in my life I dropped into that zone and amazed the people around me. The rest of the times I cannot sink a ball to save my life. The reason this happens is because I forget myself. I stop aiming. The true self plays pool. I also can only hit a target with anything if I look once and close my eyes before I throw or shoot or swing. My real mind is perfect at all this stuff. [So's yours.]

So having watched every kind of player there is, I know the only way this could have happened with a guy who shoots that fast. I am dirt positive. They ALWAYS lose it too soon... except him. He wasn't aiming.

Excuuuuuse me, all my bragging this evening... punchy... but, heh, even before I learned about this scalar/torsion physics stuff, I had some monster objections to what the particle physicists were trying to put out there, those quantum mechanics who go wild when I call them that. They, of course, and maybe even should, take umbrage when someone who hasn't a clue what she's talking about pokes holes in their elaborate, abstruse, so-lofty-as-to-be-intergalactic-sounding theories. I've found myself having to side with Einstein in these matters and it pisses them off. They try to dismiss it as me just having a crush on Einstein. Since most of how I know they're off it is contained in that no-language zone and so I must say I do NOT sound like I know what's involved. I refuse to do the jargon... not the least because the jargon is only about making stuff that isn't that hard seem insurmountably imposing. I am no physicist, but I can figure out when they're full of shit pretty darn quickly. They get steamed about it. How dare I? It's swiftly apparent that I really do make myself clear-enough to them, though. The steam. Then their only advantage is the ability to save face with paternalistically-toned gibberish, sounding to lay persons who may be within earshot as though they MUST be expert. This can leave them seeming as though they may have just won an argument with me when what they're actually doing is akin to picking burst bubblegum bits from their whiskers... and everyone is vexed why I'm the one laughing.

Egypt Opens Gaza Border Amid International Furore
Rafah Crossing Will Be Open 9-5 Indefinitely
by Jason Ditz, June 01, 2010

Israel’s Sunday night attack on a civilian medical aid ship, which left 19 people dead and dozens wounded, has sparked international outrage and brought renewed attention to the blockade, as carried out both by Israel and Gaza’s other neighbor, Egypt.

But while Israel has vowed that the blockade will remain in place Egypt has announced that it is opening its own border with the Gaza Strip every day from 9 am to 5 pm for an “unlimited” period of time.

Egypt has intermittantly opened the Rafah border crossing, usually prompting thousands of Gazans to pour into Sinai to buy food and other goods that would be impossible to obtain under the Israeli blockade.

Such openings are quickly met with Israeli outrage and demands to re-close the borders, which Egypt has generally done in a timely fashion. Egyptian officials have previously vowed that they will never permanently open the Gaza Strip without Israel’s permission.

Ironically Israel has played Egyptian complicity in the aid blockade as a way to dodge criticism, claiming that aid groups unhappy with the Israeli blockade should complain to Egypt, who has roughly the same restrictions.
Hot damn! It's not much. It is SO little, but, still, it is HUGE and it bodes well for something AT LAST to be DONE about this inhuman ordeal.

Everybody bitches about Mubarak being a raunchy dictator. Well. Clearly, he beats the living snot out of Netanyahu and company by way of humanitarianism.

I had a heck of a time getting a new Mac that acts like a Mac, and I think my old one just tanked at the extremely inopportune moment, with only the dregs of the last of the model I ordered left to send. Still, they made good on it, and I now have way more RAM, an impeccable monitor and enough hard drive to run the planet. If I could afford some toner for my printer, I'd be jake.

This sucker rocks so hard I can barely express it. There are still bugs in the Leopard OS, and I wish I had my elegant matte monitor still, but, well, I just don't know how to describe how much better it is to work on a Mac, even with Intel chips, than a PC. It's just stupid how vastly much better it is. Even people who want the PC because there are more programs for it are still outta their minds. Even with the big hairy old hassle I just went through, my years on a Mac have been utter serenity compared with my years on PCs. Whenever I need to do anything on anyone's PC it just doesn't stop freakin' me out how awful it is to compare, even when it's not malfunctioning... or not malfunctioning much... for a PC. It's just night and day. Night and day.

Calif. man working 3 jobs wins $39M lottery

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) — A man who works three jobs to support his family — including one as a limousine driver — has won a $39 million jackpot in California's SuperLotto Plus.

Clyde Persley, who is married with a 4-year-old daughter, turned in his winning ticket on Tuesday night and should get his first check for about $16 million in four to six weeks, said a California lottery spokeswoman.

The 49-year-old Santa Cruz man operates candy-making machines for Santa Cruz Nutritionals, drives a limousine and picks up extra hours at a restaurant.

He says his first moves will be taking his wife on a trip to Hawaii and hiring a financial adviser.

He bought his winning ticket at a Santa Cruz market where he has played the lottery twice a week for several years.

Deliverance.
